Solution
Open the application, not a whole desktop.
Most virtual desktops exist to reach three applications and a file share. ZERA opens those applications directly in a browser, with the browser attested and controlled, and keeps a recorded Secure Session for the desktops that genuinely need to stay.
Before and after
What changes
Today
- A virtual desktop per person to reach a handful of applications
- Licences, images and a farm to patch and scale
- A slow desktop over a slow link
- Recording and controls bolted on to the desktop
With Inlinea
- Applications as cards in the Workspace, opened directly
- Secure Sessions for the desktops that must remain, recorded
- Browser Security for watermark, clipboard and capture
- No farm to size for the peak
A scenario
How a day goes
- 1InventoryOf 400 virtual desktops, 340 open the same three web applications. Publish those through ZERA for the groups that use them.
- 2The exceptionsSixty people need a Windows desktop for a legacy client. Publish it as a Secure Session card with a managed credential.
- 3DecommissionThe farm shrinks to the exceptions. Evidence and controls are better than before.
Questions buyers ask
Can ZERA replace all our virtual desktops?
It replaces the ones that exist to reach web applications and servers. Desktops that run a thick client stay as Secure Sessions, recorded and controlled.
Is the browser as controlled as a virtual desktop was?
Admission for attested browsers is decided on the server; in-page controls and watermark are containment with an audit trail. We state the difference precisely on the Browser Security page.
